The Story
It’s pretty ironic that I’m a full-time style coach/personal stylist — considering that I spent most of my life hating, dreading, and avoiding the topic of style and clothing.
Standing at a height of 5’5, it’s always been a challenging to find clothes that flatter my body. All the worse, I was very chubby as a teen, athletically shaped in my 20’s, and have gone full dad-bod in my 30’s. None of this bodes well for finding a complimentary fit.
I also grew up believing that fashion is a shallow pursuit and that it was more important to focus what I could do rather than how I looked.
Working as an Optician after college, it shocked me how much of the job was centered on frame styling. Customers seemed less interested in the optical features of their lenses than whether the spectacles suited their face, features, and complexion.
As I found myself advising on the fit, color, and style of glasses, I noticed the effect driven by my own presentation. When I looked put together, my words carried more weight and I was perceived as more credible.
This piqued my interest.
I previously thought “fashion” to be a fickle, vacuous pursuit in which everything is wanton and fleeting. What’s “stylish” in one moment is passe the next, per the rulings of whatever avant-garde weirdos dress runway models and write for Esquire.
But seeing a tangible, real life impact motivated me to pursue the elusive art of dressing well. And while style may come naturally for some, it took me 5 long years of study, experimentation, and regretful purchases to finally feel satisfied and confident in my style.
I gained a knack for coordinating colors, composing layers, and tweaking fit through alterations tailoring. Before long, those around me started to notice.
My friends would ask for advice on what to wear for a job interview or wedding. Then they started asking me to go shopping with them for new outfits.
Eventually, it occurred to me that I should start charging for the service.
And with that, I became a freelance personal stylist. My own long-held frustrations with style alongside hard-earned triumph has made me passionate about helping other men look their best!

The Method
When people begin trying to dress better, they typically aren’t aware that there’s more to style than aesthetics — looking good. In fact, most of the benefits don’t come into play until you’re operating on a higher tier of style.
Every style journey begins with the desire to look good in the clothes you wear. Engaging with style at this tier is very technical with a focus on navigating fit, color coordination, and outfit composition.
